After visiting the Uchisar Castle panorama, we will proceed to the Pigeon Valley and the Göreme Open-Air Museum.
Pigeon Valley
Pigeon Valley is named after the wild pigeons that live in the region, nesting in the volcanic rocks. The farmers in the region carve these rocks into unique nests for pigeons, then collect the pigeon manure and use it in agriculture. Pigeon Valley in Cappadocia creates a spiritually relaxing and peaceful atmosphere for visitors, offering a magnificent view that can be enjoyed from various vantage points.
Love Valley
Love Valley is famous for its unusual and often surreal fairy chimneys, which rise to heights of up to 40 meters on the horizon. Geographic formations on Earth are only in the Cappadocia Love Valley. The fantastic scenic love valley is composed of tall, thin, mushroom-like rocks. Recently, it has been widespread, especially among couples taking their wedding photos. Love Valley Cappadocia's fairy chimneys are striking.
Göreme Open Air Museum
The Göreme Open-air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage site, features rock-cut churches and monastic complexes. This Unesco World Heritage site is essential for the Cappadocia daily tour. The Göreme Open-Air Museum is home to striking fairy chimneys, grand monasteries, and chapels, including the Dark Church, Apple Church, Snake Church, and Saint Barbara Church. The entry fee for the Göreme open-air museum is announced by the Turkish Tourism Ministry each year.
Pasabagi Valley
Paşabağı Valley is home to the most magnificent fairy chimneys of Cappadocia. Paşabağı fairy chimneys, located in a specially protected area, can be reached by walking 300 meters from the entrance gate. Some of the mushroom-shaped rock formations here are several meters high. Fairy chimneys, shaped by erosion over many years, were used as homes by various religious groups. Therefore, it is also known as the Monks Valley.
Devrent Valley
Devrent Valley is renowned for its rock formations that resemble various animal figures. You can see the camel easily, but you may need to use your imagination to see others, such as dolphins, seals, Napoleon's hat, kissing birds, the Virgin Mary, and various reptilian forms.
We take lunch at a local restaurant and continue afterwards to visit the Kaymakli Underground City.
Avanos - Pottery Workshop Demonstration
We take lunch at a local restaurant in Avanos.
The town of Avanos is situated on the banks of the Kızılırmak, and it is renowned for producing pottery from the red clay mud that emerges from the river.
Ceramic artisans of the Hittite period, around 2000 BCE, continued to produce iconic pottery and ceramic designs for generations.
Besides tourist hotels, exceptional restaurants serve delicious homemade meals, often run by women. Enjoy the tasty local dishes.
Kaymakli Underground City
Kaymaklı underground city in Cappadocia has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1985. Kaymaklı Underground City, which is believed to be the oldest underground city in Cappadocia, features a maze of narrow tunnels and rooms carved eight levels deep into the earth. Today, only four floors are open to visitors. It is estimated that people have been living inside houses built on rocks since the Palaeolithic Period. However, we know they were mainly used to protect against Roman, Persian, and Arab attacks. They were also used as storehouses.
A 5 km underground tunnel connects the underground cities of Kaymaklı and Derinkuyu; however, visitors are not permitted to access it.
Onyx Workshop Visit (Precious Stones Display) or Leather Fabric Outlet Centre.
Cappadocia onyx workshops are mostly family-owned and passed down from father to son. It will be an exciting experience to witness a demonstration of how precious stones and hard stones, such as onyx, are processed, shaped into a single piece, polished, and transformed into treasured objects. It can be a suitable choice for gifts to your loved ones, as it is small, light, and easy to carry at a low price.
