Private Ephesus Biblical Tour itinerary

Your guide will wait for you in front of the Tourism Information Office, opposite the exit gate of Kuşadası Port or your hotel. Start your tour of Ephesus, which is 20 km away.

Virgin Mary House: The House of the Virgin Mary ( today converted to a small chapel ) is located on Bulbul Mountain, one of the important pilgrimage centres for all Christians. The total visit takes around 50 minutes, but people who want to spend more time in this peaceful atmosphere may stay longer on request.

Having been entrusted by Christ himself at the crucifixion to apostle St. John, Mary travelled a long way to reach the frontiers of ancient Ephesus and chose this hill to attend the rest of their life.  Here, Catholics need to be blessed and stated as a pilgrimage zone, not only Pope Paul VI. but also Pope John Paul II. and Pope Benedict XVl. at different times. People are still joining the ceremonies held each Sunday.

Later, passing through the generous forest of this beautiful road, we arrive at the upper gate of Ephesus to start our long run to observe the glamourous ruins of Ancient Ephesus.

Ephesus:  the Celsus Library, Anthic Theater with a capacity of 25.000, Odeon, Harbor Street (Arcadians Street), the Marble & Curetes Streets, Hercules Gate, Medical Center, Temple of Hadrian, Domitian and more, the Prytaneion, various Monumental Fountains, State Agora and so on.

The Ephesus Church in Revelation is the most important of the Seven Churches in Asia Minor (Anatolia) and became the head of the seven. The Loveless Church (Revelation 2: 1-7) the Gospel of John was thought to be written in Ephesus. Apostle Paul preached to the Ephesians and lived in Ephesians for three years, to be accepted as the developer of Christianity in Ephesus, and concluded to be the third most important city of Christianity after Jerusalem and Antioch.

We have a lunch break in a local restaurant and then visit the Temple of Artemis.

Artemis Temple:
The Temple of Artemis is a large ancient Greek temple in Ephesus, considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. First in B.C. Built by the Lydian King Croesus in the 550s, the field was later enlarged and renovated by the Romans, Ioanians and Alexander the Great.  Today, only a few columns and foundation ruins of the temple remain standing. Those who visit the Ancient City of Ephesus can see clues about this remarkable building's glorious past. Some works from the Temple of Artemis are exhibited in the British Museum in London.

St. John Church: St. John's Basilica is on Selçuk Ayasuluk hill. St. John the Evangelist's tomb is in the middle of the church. A small chapel was first built over his grave in the 4th century. Later, during the reign of Emperor Justinianus, St. John's Church was transformed into a magnificent basilica.

Ephesus, which had an essential place in the spread of Christianity, is frequently mentioned in the New Testament. Saint Paul also had a crucial role in raising Christianity in Asia Minor and Greece.

St. John lived in Ephesus and was buried in the middle of the Basilica, which was dedicated to his name on Selcuk Ayasuluk Hill (a prehistoric location of Ephesus known as Arsawa). Hence, St. John Basilica and the House of the Virgin Mary are situated in a peaceful forest area on Bulbul Hill, 5 km away from the ancient city of Ephesus. Both are essential pilgrimage centres for Christians.
