Western Black Sea Tour Turkey - 7 Days/6 Nights

Arrive at Istanbul Airport which is the third-largest airport in the world. Upon landing, you’ll be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Free time after check-in. You can start discovering the streets of Istanbul at your own will.

Our guide will meet you at your hotel’s lobby at 08:30 and we’ll start the tour of the day. First, we’ll visit Saint Sophia or Hagia Sophia, built by the emperor Justinian in 532 - 537. Designed and built as a church, Hagia Sophia was later converted into a mosque in the Ottoman period and became a museum afterward. Our second stop will be the Topkapı Palace which served as the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire for over 400 years, from the 15th to the 19th centuries, and as the home of the Sultans and their families.
* The Treasury and Harem sections are not included in the program and have an extra entrance fee. 
Afterward, we’ll have a lunch break at a local restaurant (included) and have a stroll around the Hippodrome Square where horse races took place and entertainment, sports, and political activities were organized during the Roman and Byzantine periods. Here, we will see the Serpent Column brought from Delphi, the Egyptian Obelisk, the German Fountain of Wilhelm ll, and the tombs of Ottoman sultans and princes. Afterward, we will visit the Blue Mosque, also known as Sultanahmet Mosque, built between the years 1609-1617 best known for its 6 minarets and blue Iznik tiles that lend the mosque its name. Finally, we’ll be visiting the Grand Bazaar, the oldest and largest covered bazaar in the world, made up of 61 covered streets. It is home to more than 4000 shops selling anything you can think of from carpets, jewelry, leather, and souvenirs to garments, bags, decorations, spices, and home textiles.

After an early breakfast at the hotel, we will check out and depart for Gölcük Lake as the first stop of our Western Black Sea tour (approx. 270 km 3,5 hrs). After a pleasant journey, passing through the city of Bolu and having a brisk walk in the fresh forest air at an altitude of 1,100 meters at Gölcük Lake, which is famous for its water lilies, we will take a coffee break. Afterward, we will have a 1-hour drive in the forest towards Abant Lake located at an altitude of 1350 meters above sea level. Here, we’ll have lunch at the restaurant by the lake surrounded by magnificent views. For the rest of the day, we will have nature walks by the water and in the forest and have a relaxing cup of coffee while enjoying this lush nature. If you wish, you can join a horseback riding tour or have a phaeton ride around the lake. At the end of our tour here, we will go to our hotel.

After breakfast, we will have a 3-hour trip to Amasra as our next stop in our Western Black Sea tour (approx. 190 km). Along the way, we will pass through heavily forested mountains, canyons, valleys, and villages with magnificent views. We will visit a walking cane workshop in the town of Devrek, which is famous for its stylish and quality handmade walking canes, each having a different model. Afterward, we will continue on our way to Amasra, by passing through the city of Bartın, famous for its natural produce and the Black Sea traditions. 
We will arrive in the ancient town of Amasra, built on a natural harbor and peninsula stretching out to the sea. Known as a local tourism region with its natural beauty, beaches, historical castle, and unique fish restaurants, Amasra boast a history dating back 5,000 years. Upon arrival, we will have a delicious lunch at one of the local restaurants and start exploring the town. Here, we’ll see the Amasra Museum, Amasra Castle, and the lighthouse and we will learn about the livelihood of the people and villages of Amasra; which are fishing, forestry, and woodworking. The style of woodworking used here is called “Çekicilik”. The local people of Amasra have been woodworking and creating ornamentations for hundreds of years using the woods from the linden, boxwood, ash, walnut, cherry, and alder grown in Amasra forests to make picture frames, bowl sets, bird and animal figures, spice holders, salt shakers, trays, napkin holders, pencils, boxwood spoons, massage tools, and rare souvenirs which are sold at the historical Çekiciler Bazaar. After our tour in this beautiful town of the Western Black Sea Region, we will head for Safranbolu best known for its historical houses (approx. 90 km). Upon arrival, we’ll check in at our hotel and have dinner in an authentic mansion.

After having a delicious breakfast at our hotel, we will start our tour in Safranbolu, which is famous for its historical houses built in classical Ottoman architectural style. The town, which takes its name from the rare and expensive Saffron grass grown in the region, is an important tourism location thanks to its history, urban culture, authentic lifestyle, traditions, and customs, as well as local flavors and natural beauties. 
Here, we will walk down Safranbolu’s nostalgic cobblestone streets and see Safranbolu Mansions famous for their unique architectural style, the historical Government Building, Clock Tower, Köprülü Mehmet Paşa Mosque and the sundial in its courtyard, District Governors Travel House, Cinci Inn, and Bath, İzzet Mehmet Paşa Mosque, the Arasta Bazaar where you’ll find the local handicraft shops, the historical village coffee house, the blacksmiths' bazaar, the coppersmiths' bazaar, and the saddlebags bazaar. We will also taste delicious Turkish delight at the Safranbolu Turkish Delight Factory. 
Afterward, we will have a lunch break at a local restaurant where you can try local dishes of the region (not included). Next, we will go to the glass viewing terrace in the Tokatlı Canyon to take in the breathtaking view and take beautiful pictures. Then, we will pay a visit to the Yörük Village (Nomad Village), one of the oldest villages in the region dating back 700 years. During around time here, we will explore the streets of the old village where we will see traces of the Bektashi Order and have a relaxing cup of tea in the teahouse of the village. End of the tour. Today after breakfast, we will depart for Istanbul (approx. 450 km - 6 hrs). On our way, we’ll be passing through the Karabük province, 11 km from Safranbolu, one of Turkey's iron and steel production centers. Next, approximately 200 km later, we will visit the town of Mudurnu, which has had an important place in Turkish history since the Seljuk period. It was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014 as the Historic Guild Town of Mudurnu and was declared an Urban Site. This small town is home to historic mosques, baths, fountains, and 173 buildings of high architectural value. Here, we will visit historic mansions, which offer some of the most beautiful examples of Turkish civil architecture. In its bazaar, we will see blacksmiths and stove heater sellers, who continue the old handicraft traditions of the region. The legacy of Ahi-order is still present in the town where Yıldırım Beyazıt Mosque, built-in 1374, and the Turkish Bath, built-in 1382, are still operating for nearly 700 years. After we tour the Mudurnu Museum, old bazaar, and historical buildings, we will have a delicious lunch consisting of local dishes, enjoy a cup of Turkish coffee and continue on our way to Istanbul.

Today, after breakfast we’ll start our tour at 08:30 and head for the Spice Bazaar, also known as the Egyptian Bazaar, which is a very colorful market with an oriental atmosphere that specializes in typical products such as spices, desserts, nuts, and small souvenirs. Next, we’ll drive to Golden Horn for a cruise along the Bosphorus Strait which separates Europe and Asia and connects the Black Sea with the inland Marmara Sea. At the end of the cruise, you’ll have free time until your transfer to the Istanbul Airport or  Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
Private transfer to Sabiha Gökçen Airport or Istanbul Airport, Thus, your Turkey Tour comes to an end.

   cobblestone surfaces, inclines, and steps.

Regular Group Tours are English-guided package tours with mixed nationalities of a minimum of 20 people and a maximum of 40 people on the specified dates. Regular Group tour prices are fixed.
There is a child age restriction based on the character of the tour and generally, children under 8 years of age cannot participate.
