Adana, Tarsus, Hatay Tour 3 Days - 2 nights

Arrive at Adana Airport with an early morning flight from Istanbul, Izmir, or Ankara. You will meet our tour guide at the airport and go to a local restaurant for a decadent breakfast of local delicacies before our Tarsus tour.

Tarsus has an ancient and rich history and is an essential city in terms of religious beliefs. It is believed that the cave in Tarsus is where the Ashâb-ı Kehf (Seven Sleepers or Companions of Cave) is mentioned in the Qur'an. One of the 12 apostles of Jesus, Paul, was born in Tarsus. According to Acts, Paul was born as “Saul of Tarsus” but was brought up in Jerusalem and became “Paul the Apostle” after his encounter with Christ. St.Paul’s Well and Saint Paul's Church, considered Christian pilgrimage sites, are also located here. Saint Paul's Church is also the second most important church after Jerusalem's Holy Sepulchre (also called the Church of the Resurrection). On its ceiling are frescos of Jesus in the middle and Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John on the two sides.
The sites we will visit in Tarsus are St. Paul’s Church, Well of St. Paul, Tarsus Waterfall, Tarsus Grand Mosque, Kırkkasik Bedesten, Historic Tarsus Houses, Roman Road, and Cilician Triumphal Arch, Gate of Cleopatra, Seven Sleepers Cave, and Shahmeran Hammam respectively.

We have a lunch break in a local restaurant with delicious Turkish cuisine.
Continue towards Adana, visit the Stone Bridge, Old Clock Tower, the Small Clock, Sabancı Mosque, Kazancılar Bazaar, Bebekli Church, and Seyhan Dam Lake.
Dinner and accommodation in Adana.  ( Breakfast – Dinner )

Adana – Iskenderun, Hatay St. Pierre Church

After an early breakfast in Adana, we will depart for Hatay (approximately 200 km—3 hrs). Crossing beyond the Amanos Mountains, currently called the Nur Mountains, and passing through the fertile Amik Plain and Iskenderun, we will arrive at Antakya, the city of ancient civilisations. First, we will visit the Hatay Archeology Museum, the second-richest mosaic museum in the world. Here, we’ll see mosaics, the Sculpture of King Suppiluliuma, and the Antakya Sarcophagus, among many other beautiful works.

Afterwards, we’ll take a lunch break and continue our visits to the Church of Saint Peter, one of the oldest churches in the history of Christianity, where Christians were first named. It is an essential place of pilgrimage for Christians, and the Feast of St. Peter takes place on June 29 every year.

Next, we will wander through Antakya's authentic and exciting narrow streets. We will visit the Habib-i Nejjar Mosque, known as the first mosque built in Anatolia, built on a pagan temple in the Roman period, the Antakya Catholic Church, and Sarimiye Mosque, which stand almost adjacent to each other, the St. Paul Orthodox Church, and the Antioch Protestant Church.
At the end of our visit, we’ll have free time to shop at the historic Long Bazaar.
Dinner and accommodation in Hatay. (Breakfast – Dinner )

Note: Many historical buildings were destroyed and damaged in the great earthquake on February 6th 2023, but they are being rebuilt or repaired in accordance with their original form. For this reason, visiting some historical monuments in the Hatay region may not be possible.

After breakfast, we will depart for Samandağ, believed to be the place where Prophet Moses and Khidr met. Our first stop will be the Moses Tree and the only Armenian village in Turkey, Vakıflı village. Afterwards, we will visit the Surp Asdvadzadzin Church and spend some free time in the village bazaar. Next, we will see a holy place of great importance for Muslims and Christians, Khidr’s Tomb (Hz. Hızır Türbesi). We will visit the Cradle Cave Rock Tombs and the 1,380-meter-long, 7-meter-high, and 6-meter-wide Vespasianus Titus Tunnel, which was carved by slaves to protect the city from floods in the 1st century BC during the Roman period.

Afterwards, we will give a lunch break in Samandağ and visit the Monastery of St. Simeon, which was built 1400 years ago by St. Simeon, the founder of the Stylites Sect, who lived in seclusion for 45 years on a 10-meter-long stone. His church is one of the significant early Christian pilgrimage sites.
At the end of the tour, we will return to Adana and transfer to the airport, where you can connect to your onward flight to your next destination. (Breakfast )
