Today, we’ll start our local Athens tour after breakfast. If we are lucky, we can see the uniformed soldiers during the changing of the guard. We will proceed with a visit to the Church of Panagia Kapnikarea, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Old Royal Palace, and Hadrian's Arch in Adrianou Street and have lunch in an authentic Greek restaurant. Later, we will visit the Acropolis of Athens located on a hill, overlooking the whole city of Athens with the first known defense walls built in the 13th century BC by the Ancient Mycenaeans.

After breakfast, we will drive to Delphi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 185 km from Athens. Located in a magnificent area with beautiful topography, Delphi has been the sacred place and religious worship center of the Hellenic World dedicated to Apollo for centuries. In the ancient city of Delphi, we’ll see the Temple of Apollo, known as the God of the sun, music, poetry, and healing, the Athenian Treasury, the Siphnian Treasury, the Kings of Argos, Omphalos (the stone placed in the center of the earth), the Altar of the Chiots, Delphi Ancient Theater, Delphi Stadium and thousands of years old masterpieces in the Delphi Museum.

We’ll depart for Kalambaka right after breakfast, and drive for about four hours. After a lunch break in a local restaurant, we’ll continue with today’s excursion in Meteora which is known as one of the sacred sites of Christianity. Meteora is made up of several monasteries built on the top of a hill around the 11th century. The reason why they picked such an isolated location, as you might have guessed, was safety concerns. They didn’t have stairway access up, but a lift system made of woods and thick tethers to carry people and goods up and down. We will finish this wonderful excursion with a visit to Holy Telis (Agia Triada) and Agios Nikolaos Anapafsas monasteries. We’ll also see any other available monasteries at the time of our visit in this breathtaking atmosphere. After our visits, we’ll head for our hotel in Kalambaka.

After breakfast, we’ll travel to Thessaloniki which is 250 km from Kalambaka. On the way, the first site we will visit is Vergina; the legendary and holy graveyard of the Macedonian Kings. The tomb of King Philip II, and the father of Alexander the Great, who had a great contribution to the development of Hellenism on the Greek lands, is located here. From here, we’ll continue on our way to Thessaloniki and have a lunch break at a Greek restaurant. After lunch, we will begin our exploration of Thessaloniki with its beautiful monuments and remains as the White Tower of Thessaloniki, Aristotelous Square, St. Sophia Church, Galerius Triumphal Arch, and Byzantium Castle. During St. Paul's second and third missionary journey, he did missionary work in Thessaloniki and wrote letters to the Thessalonians.

After breakfast, we’ll have to transfer to Thessaloniki Airport for your flight to Istanbul and then to your connecting flight to Kayseri or Nevşehir Airport. After check-in, you’ll be free the rest of the day in this magical land that looks like a fairy tale.

After breakfast, we will visit Kaymaklı Underground City, an amazing underground complex featuring fascinating tunnels, dwellings, and storage rooms, built and carved by Christians in the underground to be used for protection against attacks, particularly by Roman Soldiers in the early day of Christianity. Next, we will visit the Göreme Open Air Museum, which is home to dozens of monasteries carved into the rocks, such as the Dark Church, Apple Church, Serpentine Church, and Saint Barbara Church. We’ll have a lunch break at a local restaurant and continue with Paşabağı Valley. Some of the mushroom-shaped rock formations here are several meters high. Fairy chimneys shaped by erosion for many years were used as houses by various religious groups, therefore it is also known as the Monks Valley. We’ll finish our tour with a scenic trip to our hotel.

Today starts with a fine breakfast and a short trip to Devrent Valley of beautiful rock formations that resemble various animals. Afterward, we will visit Mustafapaşa Village formerly known as Sinasos, where Orthodox Greeks and Turks used to live together. Here we will see madrasahs, churches, Greek mansions, and many other buildings dating back centuries. Later we will see the Keşlik Monastery and take a lunch break at a local restaurant. Afterward, we will watch a fascinating Whirling Dervish Performance which will take you to a different world for a few hours in its mystical atmosphere. At the end of the show, we will visit a pottery shop to see how they design potteries made of earth, the aesthetical concerns behind them, and how they turn into beautiful ceramics. Those who are curious about traditional Turkish Arts and the influences on Silk Road commerce may visit Carpet Center to see handknitted rugs.

This morning, we’ll have the last chance to enjoy the views of beautiful Cappadocia from our hotel since we must leave for the Istanbul flight after breakfast. We’ll transfer to Kayseri or Nevşehir airport for our flight and upon arrival, we’ll have our transfer to our hotel in Istanbul. After check-in, we will be ready to go to the Spice Bazaar, also known as the Egyptian Bazaar, to examine the varieties of spices, deserts, dried nuts, and fruits in an authentic Ottoman atmosphere. Afterward, we will have a lunch break in a local restaurant and head for the seaside to join a Bosphorus Cruise along the Bosporus Strait which separates Europe and Asia and connects the Black Sea with the inland Marmara Sea. Some of the important landmarks you’ll see on this trip are the Dolmabahçe Palace, Çırağan Palace, Ortaköy Mosque, Kuleli Military School, Beylerbeyi Palace, Rumeli Fortress, beautiful historic wooden mansions as well as the Maiden Tower on the Üsküdar shore. After breakfast, at 09:00 we’ll start our tour of Istanbul, the only city that spans two continents, which makes it impossible to discover in a few days, but we will do our best to show you the best of the city within the limited time we have. First, we will visit the biggest basilica of Christianity, Hagia Sofia (Saint Sophia) which was built by the emperor Justinian I in the 6th century AD as a church and was later converted into a mosque. Next, we will visit the Topkapı Palace which was home to Ottoman emperors for more than 420 years. After our visit, we’ll have lunch is in a local restaurant and continue our tour with the Hippodrome Square which was used as a meeting place and for chariot races during the Byzantine and Roman periods. Here, we will see the Serpent Column brought from Delphi, the Egyptian Obelisk, and the German Fountain of Wilhelm ll. Next is the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Mosque) which is one of the masterpieces Architect by Sedefkar Mehmet Ağa , known for its blue tiles and six minarets.
Finally, we will visit Grand Bazaar ( Kapalıçarşı) which is one of the biggest and oldest markets in the world, home to more than 4000 shops full of hidden treasures and authentic items such as hand made goods, jewelry, hand-knitted carpets, garments, leathers, and furs.
Bosphorus Dinner Cruise: In the evening, you are invited to a special Turkish Night with limitless domestic alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks with the option to watch the Turkish Belly Dance show, Ceremony of Henna, Traditional Turkish Folk Dances, and Turkish Gypsies Dances. After breakfast, we will head for the pier from where we’ll go to the Princes’ Islands, a chain of islands famous for their natural beauties, beaches, historical mansions, and traditional wooden houses that have been very popular since the Eastern Roman Empire. During this fantastic cruise, we’ll see the Topkapı Palace, Maiden Tower, Haydarpaşa Railroad Station, and lots of other historical structures. The residents of the islands are as diverse as Istanbul itself; minorities, famous people, royalties, etc. In Büyükada, we’ll see the Hagia Yorgi Church and the Prinkipo Greek Orphanage which is considered the largest wooden building in Europe and second-largest in the world.; in Heybeliada we’ll see the Theological School of Halki. afterward, we will have lunch with fish caught by local fishermen in an authentic restaurant. Our tour will end with our transport back to the hotel.
