Shopping in Izmir

Izmir, known as Smyrna in ancient times and founded around a large bay area, is full of wide boulevards, modern buildings, old mosques, ancient churches, as well as modern and traditional shopping centers. The lifestyle, culture, and atmosphere of the city are more reminiscent of European cities than the traditional Turkish culture dominant in the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Izmir is a modern dynamic city that has hosted many civilizations, cultures, and religions such as Persians, Ancient Greeks, Assyrians, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans throughout its history.

Cruise ships arrive in the port of Izmir almost all year round, and tens of thousands of tourists visit this modern city and ancient cities located nearby like Ephesus and Pergamon.

The residents of the city are known to be closely following the latest fashion trends, and its local stores offer the most fashionable clothes with a hint of the Mediterranean style. One of the must-visit places for shopping here is Kemeraltı Bazaar, the liveliest of Izmir with its authentic atmosphere. Kızlarağası Inn (Kervansaray) is another interesting shopping center, known for its carpet and jewelry shops and typical Turkish coffee houses.

Stylish boutique shops in Alsancak and Karşıyaka neighborhoods and large shopping malls such as Forum Bornova and Istinye Izmir are ideal, especially during seasonal discount periods.

Moreover, we offer you the chance to combine your Izmir shopping tour with cultural excursions to Ephesus, Pergamon or Çesme. We also recommend you spare time to your selves to enjoy the nightlife of Izmir and the cafes in the seaside promenade known as Kordon boyu while you are here.
