Cappadocia is known for its geological formations resembling fairy chimneys and surreal topography, making it one of the most fantastic tourist centres today. Start our tour of the region right after breakfast. First, we will visit the Uçhisar Castle and the town built on the highest hill of Cappadocia. We will take panoramic photos at Pigeon Valley.
Later, we will visit the Göreme Open Air Museum, home to a large monastery carved into the rocks and dozens of churches and chapels, such as the Dark Church, Apple Church, Serpentine Church, and Saint Barbara Church. Afterwards, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Next, we will visit a pottery shop to observe ceramics made in a style typical of the region. We will then visit a carpet workshop to learn about this traditional Turkish art and its origins from the silk route.
Paşabağı Valley, on Zelve road. Some of the mushroom-shaped rock formations here are several meters high. Many years ago, various religious groups and monks used fairy chimneys shaped by erosion as houses. Therefore, it is also known as the Monks Valley.
Visit Devrent Valley, which offers a reddish moon view and looks like a movie set. It is famous for its rock formations resembling different animal figures. Most formations, such as giant camels, seals, and dolphins, have distinctive shapes. Even a boulder resembles the Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus. Let your imagination roam free, and try to liken the formations to other creatures yourself.
If you are interested, an optional Whirling Dervishes Show is available upon request (extra cost). Please get in touch with your guide for booking.
